St. Cecilia Orphanage in Ha Buasono is dedicated to providing health and social care for orphans in Lesotho. Project has a long successful tradition, it began in 2005 and it works with children between 6 and 16 years. Experts of St. Elizabeth University involved in this project, provide health and social care to children in cooperation with local workers. Furthermore, school attendance, after-school activities, medical examinations and preparation for life after orphanage are ensured. Submitted project presents appropriate environment for volunteer activities and offers suitable conditions. Activities of the volunteer will be supervised by an employee of St. Elizabeth University. Project is also focused on support of capacity building, for there is a lack of experts and social workers in the area. The volunteer will be attending social activities in the orphanage, organize free-time activities for children and voluntary education aiming to improve the integration of the children into the society. In the same way he will help with analysis of each activity and communicate with a social worker from Slovakia. The goal of activities of the Slovak volunteer in this project is to obtain knowledge and practical experience in project implementation in developing country in multi-cultural environment. During his/her stay in the country photographs and information about the children will be gathered, which will be used later in propagation of Slovak development assistance.
