Description

The main objective of this project is to improve the possibilities of vulnerable people in Syria to find employment in the local labour market. The project has two target groups which belong to the most vulnerable groups of Syrian people; IDPs and host communities living in places where displaced people reside. Within the target groups the project pays a particular attention to youth, women and people with special healthcare needs. The specific objective of the project is to improve access of IDPs and host communities in governorates Damascus and Rural Damascus to skills for the labour market. The first planned outcome is a new training centre established, which will be located in Dwella area in between Damascus and Rural Damascus which has a high concentration of IDPs and is easily accessible for people from both governorates. Thanks to the new centre the target groups will have a better access to building practical skills. The second planned outcome is soft and hard skills for the labour market obtained. In the new training centre 36 courses will take place in three different areas; soft skills, IT programming skills and masonry. The project will train 425 persons including at least 150 women, 225 IDPs, 150 youth below 29 years and 30 people with special healthcare needs. On the job training as a part of the educational programme for target groups will connect potential employers with 130 trained graduates of soft skills courses and increase their chances to find employment. The project has potential to improve the situation of women and girls in Syria and to increase awareness about climate change and environmental protection.
