Description
The main objective is to Support sustainable development of the water management and economic growth in Kosovo as result of the climate change through the measures for integrated drought management. The following specific objectives of the project are: 1. To improve the drought management of the water resources as consequence of the climate change via application of the mitigation measures; 2. To increase technical and personal capacities on drought management and public awareness about drought impacts on the water resources through training, workshops and dialogues on mitigation measures. The outcomes will be: 1.1. Proposal of the Drought Action Plan for Drin River Basin as integrated part of the River Basin Management Plan as required by the EU Water Framework Directive. 1.2. Portfolio of measures tailored to Kosovo conditions to mitigate drought impacts, before (preparedness, decreasing risk), during (mitigation measures) and after drought events (recovery measures). 1.3. Drought Management Platform. 2.1 National consultation dialogue for the institutions and experts from different sectors dealing with drought-related issues. 2.2 raining workshops for water managers and farmers to exchange their experiences and different practices for integrated water resources management. The project will not have any impact on the gender issue, but wit will contribute to improve the environmental issues related to impact from future drought events and this will have positive effect on the marginal groups and minorities. The project is within the Category “B” for SDG Environment and CC, and “C” for Gender, as defined in the Annex of this call.
