Description
The main objective of the project is to strengthen the democracy and trust of the Georgian people in the state, local and regional government through an effective fight against disinformation, applying Slovak transformation experience. Therefore, on one hand, project focuses on the development of the skills and knowledge of young professionals, who have the potential to join state, local and regional government in future during their professional career. At the same time, it raises the awareness of the general public of disinformation campaigns with a specific focus on electoral processes. The project will draw attention to subversive disinformation practices, their negative impact on society as well as the possibilities of how to counteract such practices, and thus contribute to restoring people's trust in democracy and institutions. Because of that, the main target group of the project are students of political science, international relations, security studies and other related fields of study. These students represent both the most vulnerable group toward disinformation and also future leaders and future representatives of the state, local and regional government and civil society, who will have the capability to improve the overall situation in Georgia and to multiply the knowledge and skills gained. Four major project activities - research, presenting research results, developing the skills and knowledge of young Georgian professionals in the fight against modern threats, and developing a publicly available tool to combat disinformation - will contribute to achieving project's objectives within 15 months.
