Description
Main project goal is to map potential of geothermal energy use in Brazil and identify most suitable locations for innovative plasma drilling technology developed by applicant. Sites will be potentially suitable for other innovative drilling technologies that could be deployed. This can significantly increase market penetration and rate at which clean electricity could become more accessible to general population or population endangered by poverty. Activity 1 aims to map geothermal potential throughout Brazil, will be led by local Brazilian partner. Activity 2 focuses on identifying most suitable sites for use of innovative plasma drilling technology, will be led by project applicant. Sub-activities are detailed in the project. Project target groups are both women and men (residents) of Brazil. Project place of implementation is Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Project measurable indicators include: number of analyses created, trips, participants in workshops, presentations and round tables, individual meetings with potential working partners. Project's relationship to cross-cutting theme of gender equality is neutral. Location of the most suitable territories for geothermal projects will make electricity available to all men and women in given locality in the event of future implementation of geothermal power plants. In accordance with Annex No. 7 of the call, application is in category C. Project's relationship to cross-cutting theme of environment and climate change is mainly in the possibility of using renewable geothermal resources, which significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions in production of electricity and heat. In accordance with Annex No. 7 of the call, application is in category B.
