Description
The main goal of the presented implementation project is to expand the production portfolio of the Kenyan company InsectiPro, ltd. , owned by women, for a new edible insect species Tenebrio molitor, recognized for its environmental and nutritional benefits. Applicant Scientica, s.r.o. as a part of the implementation of the project's activities, will train the production staff directly at the site of the project's implementation, as well as within the framework of a reciprocal visit to its own modern operation in Slovakia. It will also provide prototypes associated with partial automation of breeding technology and biomass processing, which will enable significantly higher involvement of women in the production process compared to similar insect farms in the region. The result of the implementation will be a breeding facility for mealworms, capable of providing decent work for at least 15 people and with a possible production capacity of up to 30 tons of biomass per month. The activities are designed in a way that, in addition to its own production, the facility also serves as a mother colony and training for other potential farmers in the region. The final activity representing the demonstration import and export of the final products of the mass breeding of edible insects will significantly strengthen the business partnership between the two companies. This synergy can be sustainable in the long term thanks to the fulfillment of the specific needs of both companies - the possibility of the Kenyan partner to expand the production portfolio with a new type of insect, as well as the addition of the production capacities of the applicant from Slovakia.
